SHARE supports EU-Lao PDR Cooperation on Higher Education

On 15 November 2016, SHARE participated in the EU-Lao PDR Higher Education Policy and Cooperation Roadshow. The event at National University of Laos in Vientiane was attended by 300 participants and presided over by H.E. Mrs. Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun, Minister of Education and Sports, and H.E. Mr. Leo Faber, EU Ambassador to Lao PDR.

Senior officials of the Laotian Ministry of Education and Sports presented details of the Higher Education Action Plan 2016-2020 and senior representatives of the European Commission presented opportunities under Erasmus+ for students and institutions. Dr. Stefan Hell, SHARE Team Leader, introduced SHARE in the context of regional integration in ASEAN and the creation of an ASEAN Higher Education Area, and moderated a panel discussion with representatives of government, international organisation and universities. The event also featured presentations of academic exchange opportunities by representatives of Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

SHARE supports higher education in Lao PDR on a policy level and through technical work in the areas of quality assurance, qualification frameworks, credit transfer, and by providing mobility opportunities to Laotian students.
