SHARE Cooperation with SEAMEO RIHED

SHARE was pleased to be invited by SEAMEO RIHED, SEAMEO’s Centre for Regional Higher Education, to the 11th Southeast Asian Higher Education Senior Officials Meeting. The meeting took place in Manila, Philippines, on 4-5 April 2017, and was co-organised with the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines.

At the meeting, the SHARE Team Leader had an opportunity to update representatives of ASEAN member States’ ministries of education on SHARE’s progress and plans. The discussion was focused on issues relating to credit transfer and student mobility, which are of common concern for both RIHED and SHARE. The meeting further allowed SHARE to receive updates on RIHED’s progress across its four priority areas or work, as well as provide input to the strategic planning of RIHED and emerging trends in regional Higher Education. All ASEAN Member States representatives provided updates on HE policy issues in their countries, thereby providing a comprehensive picture of current Higher Education strategies and challenges across the region.

This was the second occasion for SHARE to join SEAMEO RIHED and ASEAN Member States in this meeting format, following the meeting in Myanmar in 2016.
