SHARE SCHOLARSHIP FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

GENERAL

♦ What is SHARE Scholarship?

The SHARE Scholarship is a scholarship programme for intra-ASEAN and ASEAN-EU mobility. The SHARE partner, Nuffic, is implementing this scholarship programme through short-term (one semester) exchange of students with scholarships. Throughout batches 1-5 (2016 – 2019), SHARE has awarded 590 scholarships and with the extension of the SHARE programme until December 2022, this allows for a further total of 300 scholarships to be available to ASEAN students to participate in intra-ASEAN mobility.

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

♦ Who is eligible to apply?

The SHARE Scholarship is meant for active undergraduate ASEAN students from selected ASEAN Universities that have completed at least 2 semesters at their home university to study for one semester at another selected ASEAN university.

Exchange students can come from all ASEAN countries. Students from ASEAN Member States, except for Brunei Darussalam and Singapore, are eligible for receiving scholarship funds from this program in line with the Development Cooperation Instrument (DCI) Regulation. However, students from Brunei and Singapore can participate in the mobility programme at their own cost.

♦ Can I apply for a SHARE Scholarship in the final year of my undergraduate degree?

Yes, as long as you have not graduated or completed your undergraduate degree from your university, you are still eligible to apply for the Scholarship.

♦ Can I apply for a SHARE Scholarship if I am not living in my home country?

Yes, as long as you are of ASEAN nationality and your current university is a partner of the SHARE Scholarship you can apply for a semester in another selected ASEAN University. However, as the programme also meant to encourage mobility in the region, you should not choose a university from either your home country or from the country of your home university.

♦ I would like to participate in the scholarship, however, I do not have a passport, can I still apply for the scholarship?

One of the application requirements for the SHARE Scholarship, whether done through physical mobility or virtual exchange, is for you to have a valid passport. For the physical mobility scholarship, you will need it to go to your host university and to obtain a visa. For the virtual exchange scholarship, your passport will be used as your valid form of international identification. Therefore, if you do not yet have a passport, you should apply for one before applying for the scholarship.
