ASEAN Universities Joint Collaboration in Developing Qualifications Frameworks and Recognition in the Digital Era

JAKARTA, 25 June 2019 – A Seminar on Qualifications Frameworks (QF) and Recognition in the Digital Era was jointly organised on 25-26 June 2019 in Jakarta, Indonesia by The Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of Indonesia (MoRTHE); ASEAN Secretariat; and the European Union Mission to ASEAN. The seminar aims to enhance understanding of the role of national and regional qualifications frameworks in ensuring the recognition of degrees, skills and competencies in higher education in the advent of digital era.

National and regional stakeholders, including members of the ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework Committee attended the seminar to explore the challenges that digitalisation poses to recognition. Together with international experts, participants discussed the various roles that frameworks have and explored how to foster this potential in the future.

The Regional Seminar is a continuation of previous collaborative programs between the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Indonesia (MoRTHE) and the EU SHARE to stimulate an international dialogue on Quality Assurance & Qualifications Frameworks on February 2017. The aim of this collaborative programme is to align EU SHARE with the policies of the Directorate General of Learning and Students Affairs of MoRTHE, particularly the Directorate of Quality Assurance, in order to accelerate policy development in the field of recognition for higher education in Indonesia and ASEAN.
