Preparatory Meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group on ASEAN Higher Education Mobility

SHARE in cooperation with ASEAN Secretariat was successfully organised Preparatory Meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group on ASEAN Higher Education Mobility on 7 November 2019 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

As it in line with the background, The 13th Senior Official Meeting on Education (SOM-ED) endorsed the establishment of an ad hoc working group that will assess the possibility and help realise the establishment of as single ASEAN credit transfer system (CTS) as well as a means to institutionalise the gains related to the creation of the ASEAN Europe Credit Transfer System (AECTS) under the SHARE Programme. This decission was reaffirmed by the 10th ASEAN Education Ministers Meeting (ASED).

The meeting was led by Attn Lilly Freida Milla, the SOM-ED Representative Philippines/CHED. The meeting was started with sharing experience, best practice and updates from each organisations from AUN-ASEAN Credit Transfer System, SEAMEO Secretariat, and SHARE Programme. In the end of session, all participants discussed about support that may provided by the EU and SHARE in institutionalising the ASEAN-EU CTS within ASEAN as well as way forward in the future.

 

The objective of this meeting pursued by this Ad Hoc Working Group on ASEAN Higher Education Mobility is to deliberate on assess, and eventually transfer the ownership of the AECTS and its features conceptualised by SHARE to an ASEAN institution whilst taking into consideration the specific situation of the different parties. Furthermore, the Ad Hoc Working Group shall report to SOM-ED at least once a year which is going to be happen this year in November 2019.
